Happy Father’s Day

How will you show your dad he means the world to you? You can treat him in several ways without spending a lot of money or time. Family meals are one of the best ways to spend time together.
If you are lucky enough to spend the whole day with him, why not treat him all day long with his favorite foods. You can make many of these food feasts for dad all day long or choose your favorite idea. Who knows, this could become a family tradition.

Start the morning off with a grand breakfast. Does he like pancakes or French toast? Make it extra special by offering a homemade blueberry maple syrup. It is very simple to make but yet so special.

Blueberry Maple Syrup:
3 cups blueberries
1 cup maple syrup
Directions: Combine 1 1/2 cups berries and syrup in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook until berries are slightly softened, about 2 minutes, then mash using the back of a spoon. Simmer until mixture foams up a bit, about 1 to 2 minutes more.
Remove from heat, strain to remove blueberry solids, stir in remaining 1 1/2 cups berries, and use to top pancakes, waffles, or French toast.

For lunch, why not grill out hamburgers but try out a new recipe. Search the web for so many fun flavors like a Black and Blue burger, Southwest style, or if dad is extra healthy go for a CA style and add avocado. Serve with some gourmet chips and you are all set.
Dinner can be a lot of fun too! Our family loves taco night. How fun to set up a taco bar with tons of fixings. You can do the same idea with a baked potato bar if you need a side to go along a steak. You can also try this idea with a pasta bar. Have two types of pasta and two sauces on the side. But to make it even more special offer “toppings” of broccoli, different cheeses, shrimp, chicken, tomatoes, olives, etc.

But one of the most fun things to have on a special day like this would be a dessert bar! Yes, gather several of dad’s favorite ice creams, fruits such as bananas, strawberries and blueberries, and don’t forget all the exciting toppings. You can have flavored syrups, candies, nuts, and more. Let your imagination go wild.

Hope you found some good ideas to spoil your dad this Father’s Day. Easy to do and the kids can really get involved! And as they all say…one way to a man’s heart is through his stomach!
