Shawn and Stacy Kiernan
Like the warmth of the sun in her native Texas, Stacy Kiernan’s friendliness and generosity relax her friends and clients so they can be themselves.
“Some lessons I’ve learned as military wife have been important to the foundation of my photography business.”
She says she’s learned to trust God, be flexible and make the most of every opportunity. She believes even a last minute change of orders (which most people would find exasperating) is an opportunity.
“Personal relationships are at the heart of my business because the best photos have natural expressions and I can only accomplish this by getting to know people. Take an interest in people, and they will take an interest in you.”
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Marketing, Stacy originally planned to attend law school. After marrying her high school sweetheart, they moved to Charleston SC. She realized that long term plans are often difficult at best for a military spouse.
“I feel so honored to be featured in the ‘Sisterhood of the Camo Pants blog,’ ” Stacy said. “I’ve been a Navy wife for 9 years now, and I’ve met some amazing women who continue to inspire me every day.”
Stacy says she’s always known how much she wanted a family, so she’s grateful “this crazy path” has allowed her to stay home with her three boys, ages 6, 4 and 1.
After their move to St. Marys GA, Stacy learned about a photography workshop and signed up. An avid scrapbooker since 1995, she joined the class intending to learn to take better pictures of her own family. When she met women in the workshop with their own photo businesses, she was inspired to start her own with new-found confidence in her own photography skills.
She dreams of traveling with her family, retiring at an early age, relaxing in the Texas Hill country, and taking plenty of pictures along the way. “I am determined for my son Ethan to see the Eiffel tower he has been talking about since he was two years old.”
