I’ve always been a romantic at heart.
Since the moment I stepped foot in my honey’s home, I started leaving him love notes. Little post-it’s that said “I miss you” or “Can’t wait to see you again!” in random places for him to find throughout the week.
I’d even sneak a card or letter into his bag when he went on trips. Just a little something to let him know I was thinking about him.
Before my honey deployed, he told me he didn’t want any mail. I told him I’d do my best to keep it under wraps, but I made no promises. He got his first card not even 3 days after arriving at his destination. (What can I say? Distance throws my romantic side into overdrive.) A few days later, I asked him what he wanted – to my surprise, he said: “More mail.”
Love notes are perfect for sending to your deployed SO, or even sneaking into their work bag during the week! Who doesn’t love getting a little love note?
Now, I’m writing out little notes whenever I think of them. I keep a little bag with colored pens and fun stationary in my desk at work. (I found an awesome pack of 200 multi-color notecards at Target for about $20.) Pinterest is great for finding little sayings – they don’t have to be super long or detailed. I know that a quick “I love you!” will bring a smile to his face as much as any 3-page letter.
It doesn’t have to take a lot to show someone you’re thinking about them/love them/miss them/care about them. Be careful though – love notes can be addictive! For both you AND him!

What a great idea! I always forget the little romantic gestures when he is here. I think this would be perfect for this pre-deployment stage when everything is chaotic.
